In February 2028, the Science Honors Society is planning a trip to the Gerace Research Centre in the Bahamas. Students will explore marine and land ecosystems, do hands-on science work, and experience island culture. This is a great chance to learn and have fun in a beautiful place. Chapter Membership Selection Criteria
- First and foremost, it is based upon science scholarship, service, and personal character.
- Candidates must have successfully completed a minimum of three semesters or equivalent of high school/college science.
- Ninth graders may be eligible if they have completed a Regents level or accelerated 8th grade science course.
- Candidates must have a minimum science average of 85% or B+.
- Candidates must have a minimum scholastic average of 75% or C.
- Candidates must have two faculty recommendations, at least one of which must be from the science department.
- Candidates must have shown interest and participated in science or technology-related activities. https://stanys.org/science-honor-society
