Welcome Remote Academy Students and Parents.
As I am sure everyone knows by now, we will be using Office 365 with TEAMS in our classes. Office 365 is a virtual platform where the students can access their "OneDrive" (a virtual storage drive), a variety of Apps, and most importantly TEAMS, our online classroom. All of their assignments will be accessible in TEAMS, and they will communicate with me through the TEAMS Chat. TEAMS is accessible through their Office 365 account from any computer (https://www.office.com/?auth=2) and is also available as a free App for their phones. Unfortunately, there is not a parent portal for TEAMS, but if you would like to see their assignments, or utilize the Chat feature yourself, download the App and ask your student to log you in under their account. Students' logins are the same username they use to log in at school with the addition of "@nfschools.net" - for example - slondon@nfschools.net. Student passwords have all been reset to their student ID numbers.
I have also set up Remind for parents, so if you do not have access to TEAMS, you will have a way to contact me. If you prefer email, my address is slondon@nfschools.net. For Remind, text the appropriate code below to 81010. I am currently in the process of making phone calls every, but if you have questions before you hear from me, send me a message in any of the above ways with your phone number, and I will give you a call ASAP.
I have not assigned work as of yet. I have many families that still have not obtained devices. My class lists change every day, including the addition of another class period. Because of this, it is impossible for me to start class content. I will be assigning some get to know you assignments, so the kids can practice using TEAMS, starting Monday, September 28. Each assignment will be crafted as to NOT need the supporting Microsoft product (i.e. Word, PowerPoint, etc.) and can be completed entirely by just downloading the TEAMS App only to a mobile device. The TEAMS App takes up very little memory on your mobile device. I know some students are anxious to get to work, but I ask you for your patience at this unprecedented time.
