CTLE/REGISTRATION UPDATES FROM TEACH AND OTI:NYSED

We are approaching the end of the first 5-year term of certification registration, and you may be asking about what you need to do. Here is the information from NYSED. You do not need to do anything until you receive an email from NYSED. NO certificates need to be submitted unless you are audited.

    From OTI:NYSED

"Near the end of the Registration period, certificate holders will receive an email from NYSED prompting them to login to their TEACH account and attest to completing the 100-hour CTLE requirement, answer moral character questions, and select a new Registration status.
We are not currently asking teachers to submit proof of completion for the 100 CTLE hour requirement.  Certificate holders should hold on to all CTLE certificates they have received. For a period of three years after they attest, we may require proof of completion in the event of an audit. Please check our website’s homepage periodically for any updates Office of Teaching Initiatives Home Page."

NEXT TRC Policy Board Meeting, Tuesday,  May 16, 2023.  The meeting will be held at 3:45pm

Location TBD - please make every effort to attend in person.

    Name Changes/Updates

Do all of your records have the same name?

In our district your email is the user name for many electronic systems (Power School, Teachscape, PDP Premier, EPMF (BEDS), TRC transcript database, and others.).

Your name must be the same for all accounts.

If you have had a name change, make sure you change it officially with  the State Education Department so that your evaluation data, professional development credits, and other data are tied to your certification. The TEACH system is what is used to track all of this information. Also, for district alignment, contact HRO with any updates.

Click HERE to notify the State Education Department of a name change

You then need to send documentation of the change. See instructions below from our BOCES Certification Officer:

From rON BOCES Certification Office (Office in Medina):

After people request the name change in TEACH, they need to send NYSED a copy of documentation to back up their request or their name will not be changed. They send a photocopy of the marriage license or documentation of a divorce, etc.

The documentation can be mailed to NYSED at 89 Washington Avenue, Room 5N, Albany, NY 12234 along with a brief letter to explain what the documentation is or the documentation can be emailed to tcert@nysed.gov.  I recommend email if someone can scan the materials and attach it to the email.  The name change documentation is processed very quickly via email.

(The TRC can scan your documents for you.)

There is not a fee to change a name in TEACH unless a printed certificate is requested.  If a printed certificate is desired, then the person would apply for a duplicate certificate in TEACH and pay $25 after they request a name change

    TRC Records and PDP Premier

Professional development records before October 2014 will be available on the TRC transcripts.

Professional development records from October 2014 to the present will be available online through PDP Premier.

PDP Premier user names are an individual's NFCSD email address and a password was sent to everyone in a hard copy notice in October.

    Getting Started with PDP Premier:

You need to use your NFCSD district email address as your user name.

If you do not have access to PDP Premier or need a password below is the process for assistance:

If the temporary password you were given in October is not working then you can email ServiceDesk@e1b.org or call BOCES at 821-7171 (press Option 2 for a new temporary password.

Once you have a temporary password you can setup your account. You will be required to change your password and set up your security questions.  Click HERE for account setup:

Once you have set up your account, then you can go to the PDP site and use your new credentials to log in

    PDP Site

This is also the place to go for a listing of workshops approved for district professional development/clock hour credit.  There is a District Catalog of workshops and you "REQUEST" an event to register for it.

If you receive an email saying that you were granted FINAL APPROVAL, it means that the TRC has acknowledged your registration via PDP Premier. You still have to attend the workshop, sign the attendance sheet, and complete all requirements before the final verification is done in PDP Premier.
