• Overview

The Niagara Falls City School District’s Mentor Teacher Internship Program (MTIP) is designed to support all teachers in their first three years of teaching by pairing them with experienced veteran teachers in same subject area and/or grade level. The Mentor Coordinator and the MTIP Advisory Committee matches mentors and interns based on MTIP policy and in compliance with the Mentor Grant.

Mentor and Intern pairs are expected to collaborate in a professional, confidential manner with the expectation of easing the adjustment period of the new teacher to the profession, thus achieving the highest quality teaching and ultimately resulting in maximum student achievement.

Our mentor program utilizes Mentors in a strictly non-evaluative capacity. This allows pairs to maximize their ability to work together to solve issues and concerns in a confidential and professional manner. Confidentiality is stressed and ensured for all participants.
