Social/Emotional Support Services
Edge Program
Gaskill Preparatory Staff in room 116
This program helps students who are struggling in school and at risk of dropping out due to impaired executive function, i.e. students’ inability to self-regulate, organize, manage their thinking/emotional responses, and overt behaviors. Teachers and students work one on one or in small group environments to provide appropriate support.
Girls Circle
Tuesdays with Jennifer Bliss from Community Missions in room 219
Designed to foster self-esteem, Girls Circle helps girls maintain authentic connection with peers and adult women in their community, counter trends of self-doubt, and allow for genuine self-expression through verbal sharing and creative activity. The group specifically addresses the growing issue within schools of how to best address problem behaviors among female students. Often, these students are given out-of-school suspensions or other punitive discipline for acting out, which may begin or continue a downward spiral of behaviors. This cycle may eventually lead the students to disengage with the school system, and ultimately drop out.
Liberty Partnership

Future Leaders affords students and families a foundation to a successful and engaging school experience. Future Leaders designs programming around the individualized needs and goals of our students, assisting them throughout high school and transitioning them into a college or career pathway. We provide a team during and/or after school for: academic support, goal setting, motivational guest speakers, community engagement activities, self-awareness building, college visits, career/college planning, internships, soft skills development, service learning, and wellness activities. Liberty Partnerships also continues to offer a wide range of these services throughout the summer. We at Future Leaders are invested in each student, having a positive impact on graduation rates and increased school engagement. We believe in building positive relationships and in doing so, each student becomes their best self, a Future Leader.

Winning Because I Tried
Fridays with Modie Cox in room 219 during ASP
Teaches children ages 8-18 that success is within your realm via effort and not the final outcome. In reality, it’s not about the win or the loss, it’s about believing in your abilities and doing the best you can! The goal is to make youth better prepared for what life has to offer. This will be accomplished by using fun activities and lectures. This method captures the child’s attention and fosters good physical activity in children.
