    Dear Parent/Guardian:

As you know all 7th and 8th grade students are required by New York State to take major state assessments, as well as local assessments in all four subject areas.  All 8th grade students are tested in English Language Arts (ELA), Math, Science, and Social Studies to gauge their readiness for high school; and our 7th graders are assessed in preparation for meeting all requirements necessary for promotion to 8th grade.

Teachers and students at Gaskill Prep School are gearing up for these assessments, and to be prepared we must do just that.  PREPARE!  That is why we are proud to announce the new Extended Day Program that will run Monday through Thursday from 2:30 to 3:30.  The Extended Day Program offers tutoring in ELA and Math by our very own certified prep school teachers. Students enrolled in the program will receive additional instruction in areas in need of improvement and strategies will be taught to better prepare students for increased performance on their major state and local assessments.

A second option is available for all students interested in participating in our world famous intra-mural program.  Students will be involved in ten-week rotations of flag football, floor hockey, European handball, and basketball.  Students must see Mr. Dean in room 201 or Mr. Wojton in the Physical Education office to sign up and join a team.

Students who wish to enroll in the extended day academic program should see Mr. Tambroni in room 114 and a permission slip will be provided.  Limited slots are available, so parents and students must act fast to enroll in the program.

We encourage all parents/guardians to take advantage of this free and valuable opportunity.  I am sure that by working together we can help your child reach their greatest potential.

    Sincerely,

    The Gaskill Extended Day Staff
