Hi everyone!  I miss seeing you everyday and working on math together.  I would much rather be in the classroom with you than teaching remotely.  Make sure you are washing your hands, practicing social distancing and taking care of yourselves!!

While we are away from school you will be working on lessons from our textbook.  You will be responsible for completing two lessons each week and taking a quiz at the end of each module (chapter).  There are two options: complete the work on my.hrw.com or pick up a packet from school.  Choose the option that works best for you.  Our curriculum has been modified somewhat and the assigned modules were deemed the best options for you to work on independently.  If you have ANY questions, please reach out to me.  I am here to help!

  • If you are working online, each Monday morning at 8 am your two assignments will open on my.hrw.com.  You should complete these lessons by the following Monday; the lesson will be still be available if you fall behind but this is the pace you should be working at.  If you are picking up packets, you will be working on the coordinating textbook pages for the same lessons; your packet will have work for two weeks at a time.  Here is a schedule of the work you will be assigned.  Note: I do not know when we will be returning to school, the schedule was created with a worst case scenario of us not returning in mind; when we return to school plans will be adjusted again.

    Week of 4/13: lessons 18.1 and 18.2

    Week of 4/20: lessons 18.3 and 18.4

Week of 4/27: module 18 quiz and lesson 21.1

    Week of 5/4: lessons 21.2 and 21.3

Week of 5/11: module 21 quiz and  lesson 22.1

Week of 5/18: lessons 22.2 and 22.3 and module 22 quiz

    Week of 5/25: lessons 23.1 and 23.2

Week of 6/1: lesson 23.3 and module 23 quiz

Week of 6/8: complete any missing assignments

  • Questions:

Why should I do my work online?  GoMath will help you while you are working.  This way if you get stuck, you can fix it yourself or try a problem again.  At the end of each unit, the program will show me who completed the lessons and quiz so I can give you an instant grade.  You will have access to all of the help features (see an example, step-by-step, etc) while you are working- even on the quizzes!  I think it is easy to use the online resources vs paper and pencil so that you can easily keep track of your progress.  GoMath saves your progress so that you can take a break if you need to, and you can't lose any of the assignments!

What if I 100% can't work online?  You will have to go to school every two weeks to pick up a packet of work.  This is the same work as online, but without any of the help features.  It seems right now that you will turn in your work at the end of the two weeks, but I won't be able to grade it right away.  Therefore, it could be a few weeks until you know what your grade is and if you have missed any work.  If you lose your packet I am not sure if there will be extra copies available.

What if I have a question about something?  You can text me through Remind (the best way) or email me.  I promise to get back to you ASAP!  Teaching and learning math online is new for all of us.  Hang in there, and we will get through this together!
