Congratulations Boys and Girls -
You are ready for Pre K 4!
This year is coming to an end. Here are some fun activities for our
last week of learning.
Enjoy!
Homemade Bouncy Balls
What You Need
* 1/2 cup of warm water
*1 tbsp of Borax
*1 to 2 tbsp of Clear Elmer's Glue ( or Glitter glue)
Directions
Mix the Borax and warm water together until the Borax is dissolved. Add more water if needed.
Next, slowly pour your desired amount of glue into the Borax solution. The more glue the bigger the ball.
As soon as the glue hits the Borax solution it will start to harden. Gently squeeze and squish the glue ball until it is no longer sticky.
Remove the glue ball from the solution and roll between your hands to make a ball shape.
Add more glue to the remaining solution to make more balls.
Sidewalk Chalk Paint
WHAT YOU NEED
- 2 cups Cornstarch
- 2 cups Water
- Food Coloring misc. colors
- 8 Small Clear Cups
- Paintbrush
DIRECTIONS
-
In a mixing bowl, combine the water and cornstarch and stir until the cornstarch dissolves and it is smooth. It will be kind of runny.
-
Divide the mixture evenly into the small plastic cups. Use the food coloring to make a different color paint in each cup.
-
Use paintbrushes to paint pictures on the sidewalk or driveway outside. The mixture is thinner and runnier than regular paint, but just paint your pictures like you would with any other paint. The paint dries quickly, and it will resemble sidewalk chalk. The colors are very bright once they dry! It washes off very easily with rain or the hose.
Snake Bubbles
What You Need
- Bottle
- Scissors *
- Elastic band
- Flannel, face cloth or an old sock
- Bubble mixture and water
- Food colouring (optional)
Directions
Find a clean, empty plastic bottle, the diameter of the bottle will determine the width of your bubble snakes.
Using a pair of scissors or a craft knife (and *adult supervision), help your child by cutting the bottom off the plastic bottle.
With your kids, cover the open end of your bottle with a piece of fabric that is similar to a washcloth or cotton sock.
Secure with a rubber band to keep the fabric in place. No elastic band then don’t worry just wrap it in tape.
Making a rainbow bubble snake is as simple as adding for colouring to the fabric-covered end.
Dip the fabric in the bubble solution and give the bottle a blow. Blowing slowly produces the longest snakes.
Scavenger Hunts:
Games to Play:
*Ball in the Bucket:
With your child, practice throwing a ball into a bucket. Increase the throwing distance as his skills improve. Gradually, your child will gain more control in throwing.
*Packing a Picnic:
Invite your child to pack a special picnic lunch and decide what to include. Packing a picnic allows your child to act independently and learn from his choices.
*Play Relay:
Turn an ordinary job, such as putting toys away, into a relay game for your child and a few friends. By being a member of a fun team, your child may develop a positive attitude about cooperating.
