    4th Grade: 40 Week ELA Standards and Content  

    • Read and comprehend complex literary and informational texts independently and proficiently
    • Refer to details in a text when explaining what the text says and when making inferences
    • Use details and examples in the text to determine the main idea and describe a character, setting, or event
    • Determine the main idea of an informational text and explain how it is supported by key details; summarize the text
    • Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills and decoding words
    • Read with accuracy and fluency to support comprehension
    • Write opinion pieces on topics or texts that support a point of view with reasons and information
    • Write informative pieces that group related ideas and paragraphs and provides a conclusion
    • Write narrative pieces that introduce a narrator/characters, including details to describe actions
    • Produce writing that is developed, focused, organized and edited
    • Draw evidence from literary or informational text to support analysis, reflection, and research
    • Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when writing or speaking at the appropriate grade level

    4th Grade: 40 Week Social Studies Standards and Content 

    • Describe and explain the growth and expansion of New York State from the 1800's and 1900's
    • Explain the influence of immigrant groups on New York State culture
    • Describe the economy of New York State

    4th Grade: 40 Week Science Standards and Content

    • Relate day, year, and seasons to movement of the earth and moon
    • Define, describe, and recognize weather
    • Understand weathering, deposition, and erosion
    • Describe the effects of pollution and conservation
    • Explain the water cycle's role in weather and the weathering process
    • Identify positive and negative effects of human change to the environment
    • Identify positive and negative impacts of extreme natural events on living things

     4th Grade: 40 Week Math Standards and Content

    • Multiply two two-digit numbers and up to a four-digit number by a one-digit number
    • Solve division problems with up to four-digit dividends and one-digit divisors
    • Solve measurement and conversion problems
    • Generate and analyze number patterns that follow a given rule
    • Solve multi-step word problems using the four operations
    • Compare and order decimals to hundreths by reasoning about their size

     6th Grade: Reading Standards

    • Read closely to see what text says explicitly/implicitly
    • Make logical inferences
    • Determine central idea and important details
    • Analyze how individuals, events, ideas, develop and interact over the course of text

     6th Grade: Math Standards

    • Summarize
    • Measure using a variety of measurement tools
    • Calculate range and describe patterns
    • Understand probability, collect data, observe frequencies, and outcomes
    • Develop probability/solve/analyze
