This is our last full week of school. I can't believe we are almost finished for the year. I know that these last few months have been difficult for all of us. Let's do our best work this last week to show all that you have learned and that you are ready for first grade. This week is all about what you've learned this year.
Note to parents: Parents please keep practicing math, fluency to five, reading sight words, reading stories, writing simple stories using tap out the sounds to spell during summer. It is very important to keep learning going on during the summer months. Read this article for ideas: Summer Learning
Focus for the week: What do children learn in Kindergarten? Put your thinking cap on and remember way back to September when you first came into Kindergarten.
Daily: Listen to these Yy and Qq songs: Yetta Yo-Yo and Queenie Queen
Monday
Reading and Writing
Listen to the story The Three Little Pigs (version 1) and then read a second version The Three Little Pigs (version 2)
After listening to both stories, discuss with your child, what was the difference between both stories. Have your child tell you the events in order of the first story. Watch it again and have them retell the story events: beginning(what happened in the beginning), middle(what happened in the middle) and end(what happened in the end).
Activity: Your child can draw, color and cut out the main characters of the story (the 3 pigs and the wolf). Let them be creative and draw the houses (setting of the story)
How to Draw a Simple Pig How to Draw a Simple Wolf
Let your child retell the story as many times as they wish. You do not have to hand in the retell characters and setting. Acting out a story is how young children learn comprehension. So have fun with it!
