    KEY BELIEFS ABOUT RESPECT
I will be a better person and student if I act on the following beliefs:
✤ I will treat others the way I want to be treated (the "Golden Rule").
✤ It is important to treat everyone with respect, even if I feel they don't deserve it.
✤ I need to treat everyone the same by accepting their differences, whether they are my friends, or people I don't know very well.
✤ I must respect the personal space of others and keep my hands to myself.
✤ It is important for people to be included.

    ACTIVITIES ON RESPECT:

    • When reading a book at home, identify how the character(s) are showing respect.  If a character is not showing respect, write down or think about how they can change the behavior to be respectful.
    • Role-play with your family what respectful behavior looks like.  Make a list of how you as a family will show respect at home, and then post and practice that behavior as a family.
    • Make a list of do's and don'ts for being respectful at home, in school, in your community and towards your friends.  Keep this list as a personal reminder. You could even share your list with family or friends to help "spread respect."
    • Identify three things you can do to be a more respectful person.  Think about how your respectful behavior will affect your interactions with others.
