PLEASE MAKE A NEW SCIENCE AND SOCIAL STUDIES NOTEBOOK WHERE YOU WILL ORGANIZE AND RECORD YOUR ASSIGNMENTS--something that I can collect when school is back in session.
Don't forget that for ALL text work you will be practicing the "How to Read a Textbook" strategies! As a quick overview, they are:
- TITLES and SUBTITLES - These are your LEARNING TARGETS! They tell you exactly WHAT you should be learning as you read. Read to LEARN. Re-READ. Review these as you go. Everything we've practiced!
- HIGHLIGHTED VOCABULARY - You have to KNOW these!
- PARAGRAPHS - Use them to: 1. tell you when the author has changed topics 2. give you a clue that something new and also important is being introduced 3. help you scan and find information later
- ALL VISUALS - (maps, charts, diagrams, pictures, photos, etc.) STUDY these until you understand them. Don't SKIP THESE!!
