Blocks, Legos & Building Center
In our classroom, we have a block center with wooden blocks and interlocking pieces commercially known as Legos. If you would like to include a center like this but do not have those materials, you can look around and make building pieces from various household items. This is a time for the imagination to run wild. In our picture you can see some of the buildings that were made from cereal boxes. This is a little different. You can make actual buildings, or you can use reuse the supplies listed to make something new every time.
Supplies:
Empty boxes taped shut from food such as: cereal, cake mixes, mac and cheese, etc.
Empty toilet paper and paper towel or wrapping paper rolls
Clean egg cartons- if styrofoam rinse with soap and water first. Do not use heavy paper cartons if eggs have broken in them.
Plastic cylinders such as those from Crystal Lite or other drink mixes.
Empty plastic shampoo, conditioner bottles, ketchup, salad dressing. Just be sure lids are screwed on very tightly.
Any size box you might have.
