NIAGARA FALLS CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT

POLICY: COMMUNITY PROMOTIONS IN THE SCHOOLS

Neither the facilities, the staff, nor the students of the Niagara Falls City School District shall be employed in any manner for advertising or otherwise promoting the interests of any commercial, political, or other non-school agency, individual or organization, except that:

a) Schools may cooperate in disseminating information concerning the work of any municipality, public entity, not-for-profit corporation, school, college, university or social service agency, provided that the work or event promoted by such entity does not restrict or impair the educational program of the schools or conflict with Section 19.6 of the Rules of the Board of Regents;

b) All promotional information must be forwarded to the District’s Public Relations Director to be verified, reviewed and receive prior approval prior to distribution;

c) The Superintendent of Schools may choose to require that the following disclaimer be added to any posting of activities or services being posted in a school within the Niagara Falls City School District:

“The statements posted are for general informational purposes only and the Niagara Falls City School District makes no representation as to the accuracy or completeness of such information herein. The posted information neither constitutes nor should be construed by any person whatsoever as an event sponsored or endorsed by the Niagara Falls City School District.”

No materials of a commercial nature shall be distributed through the children in attendance in the Niagara Falls City School District except as authorized by law or the Commissioner’s Regulations. Policy Reference:
