The District budget vote will be held from noon to 9 p.m. at general election polling sites on Tuesday, May 16. Residents vote on the amount the District is authorized to spend. The proposed budget contains no increase to the tax levy.

Because of NY State's two percent tax cap, even though the proposed budget contains no increase to the tax levy, the District needs a super-majority 60% favorable vote in order for the budget to pass. In order to be under the two percent, the budget would have to be significantly less than the 2016-2017 budget.
A failed budget would result in a contingency budget, which would be a reduction of only $176,925.

These items must be eliminated if a budget is defeated:

General Fund Capital Improvements

Student Supplies

Transportation would be limited to State Limits

A contingency budget would restrict the District’s ability to help students acquire supplies, and force additional cuts to programs, transportation, and/or staffing.
